The program that changes lives
If you are a student, educator, parent or coach
and want to increase your awareness of people with diverse abilities,
the Variety Village Inclusion Certification Program may be for
you. This three-level program will teach you how to remove the
barriers facing people with disabilities and provide opportunities
to them. The program also shows you how to create a more inclusive
and integrated community.
You may use this certification program as an
educational credit. Check first if applicable with your post-secondary
institution.

Level
One: Introduction to Inclusive Active Living
Topics covered:
- Diverse abilities and active living;
- The evolution of terminology and
societal attitudes;
- How to promote an abilities-based
approach, access, awareness, and adapted activities;
- How to proactively promote
participation, accessibility (attitudinal and physical)
and a welcoming environment for people
of all abilities.

Level
Two: Integration Coach Certificate
Topics covered:
- Review of diverse abilities, personality,
motivation and behaviour based approach;
- Importance of attitude for successful
inclusion;
- Rights and responsibilities of people
with disabilities and service providers;
- How to promote, recognize and support
individual character strengths and contributions.

Level
Three: Integration Instructor Certificate
This level can be used as
a work-placement opportunity.
The following will be covered:
- How to promote attitudes,
rights and responsibilities;
- How to achieve inclusion by age,
gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and ability
through practical experiences at Variety Village or
in your community.
