Walk-n-Roll is here to stay!
The 2008 Walk n’ Roll event is set to take place on Sunday, September 21. Last year YOU raised $90,000 net. Funds raised help subsidize memberships for families with a disability. We couldn’t do it without you! Let’s raise our total this year! Stay tuned for pledge forms and further event information.

Shayne Smith
At four months old, Shayne contracted an illness called meningococcal septicemia and was given a two per cent chance of surviving. He spent four months in hospital enduring skin grafts and multiple amputations – the loss of both legs, one hand and half of each finger on the remaining hand.
Shayne, now 19, lives by the credo never give up; always believe in your dreams. In 2006, he realized one of his dreams when he travelled to Birmingham, England with the Canadian junior wheelchair basketball team for the world championships. “If it wasn’t for Variety Village, I wouldn’t be playing basketball, let alone playing basketball for Team Canada”, says Shane. Shane is also an ambassador for Variety and has appeared in the media promoting the idea that people with disabilities are “just differently abled.”
