Members can now train in new workout areas
Thank you all for your patience while we moved the weight and cardio equipment. We appreciated your input and suggestions and are pleased to have the new areas open for training. For some time, members have been asking for more cardio equipment and workout space. In response, we recently added 20 cardio machines. These new machines came with a challenge since we could not fit them in along the track with the others.

After much consultation and consideration of all options, we moved the weight equipment to the new weight room at the south end of the building. Cardio machines are now located in the conditioning area.

Our work is not done. Over the next few weeks, we will talk to our members and address your suggestions and concerns. Please feel free to approach us with your comments and suggestions. You can call customer service at 416-699-7167 ext. 274 or email mselder@varietyvillage.on.ca

After School Program
Great news for grades 8 - 10 students: Variety’s After School Program begins this fall!

Along with fitness and leisure activities, which generated so much excitement during the two week pilot project in February, the following activities are in the works for the fall session:

  1. Homework Club – With help and friends, have fun but get it done!
  2. Workshops – Develop practical empowerment skills.
  3. Reality Games – Learn amazing things about yourself and others.
  4. The V2 Hangout – Grill or chill! Get answers to burning questions or share experiences at Variety’s informal forum.

Learning can be fun! Click here for more information on the program or contact Maureen at 416-367-2828 x 260.

Hristina, Member of Variety Village's Synchronized Swim Team
For the first time Variety Village has an athlete who is deaf on its Synchronized Swimming team.
Hristina is 11 years old, and is part of a team of girls her age who all have full hearing. She has a cochlear implant, which allows her to hear when training “on land,” but the device can’t be worn in the water. As a result, she cannot hear her teammates, her coach, or the music when she is swimming. These obstacles have not stopped her from achieving her goals.
Hristina recently competed at the Waterloo Invitational Competition, where she placed first in her routine. At the Regional Championships, she placed first and earned a spot to compete in the National Championships - an impressive list of accomplishments for an athlete who has only trained for one year.
Here at Variety Village, we are excited to see what is next for Hristina. We will keep you updated on this inspiring athlete as her Synchro career develops.
